My opinion about Mine Gencel Bek’s conclusion

I read the Mine Gencel Bek’s conclusion about channels and in some ways, I disagreee with her.  Her instructions about TRT is particially wrong. Because,  TRT’s programmes have started to change for 2 years. Due to the fact that; political power affected TRT and now we can see more magazine which can be used as occupying people’s mind with magazine so they couldn’t think about the current conditons of Turkey and make them happy. On the other hand,  I fairly agree that NTV and CNNTurk are good TV channels and also SKYTurk can also be added to these channels. Both of these, TV channels don’t tabloiditize the news because their founding aim is to serve people only news and make people informed about them. Otherwise, The conditions of BBC in Europe is democratic, I think the same. And being democratic in TV’s stems from countries’ current position in economics, politics and social organizations. So, in European countries like England, media is much more freer than Turkey. What’s more? They also don’t need to do tabloidization cause there is no need to attract people in this country,  most of the people automatically wants to learn news. To sum, her research impressed me like her concrete examples about TV news.

2 marks 9. Compare Turkish media to other international media- do you see a difference? If so, in what way is there a difference?

In today’s world, media commands our dailiy lifes in terms of teaching us to how to respect our enviroment. What am i saying is that, media tells us which party to vote, which film to watch, which is good or which is bad etc . In some countries like Northern Europe countries, the affect of media to people’s daily lifes is not too much if we compare them with Turkey. Because media bosses control the media in Turkey. The same situation can be in the Northern European countries too. However, their daily life doesn’t contain much more struggle than us so people do not see the affects of media in their daily lifes. In America for instance, there are such newspapers which presents different views at the same time. In my opinion, the same situation is shared by Turkey, both of the media in these countries is hold by rich and powerful man. On the other hand, in Germany ,most people read the newspaper called The Bild and they see and share their opinions with their friends. When they realize that some of the news are insubstantial, they keep on buying this newspaper again and again. I really can not understand this situation!!

2 marks- 6. Compare different Turkish media outlets (newpapers, television stations, magazines, radio stations)– does the owner have an influence on the content? (who is the owner- is the ideology of the owner reflected in the content?)

Since the last years of 1980’s, media in Turkey has become a significant part in people daily lifes with the appearing new private television channels. Because these channels provide people new entertainment programmes as a result they easily gained these people’s attraction to their tv’s. On the other hand, newspaper propaganda always had happened but tv is much more stronger and much more cruel than other media outlets. In my opinion, every owner has the influence on their media agency. For instance; there was an argument between one of the media boss and Turkish Prime Minister. As a result, they all used their media power. Disstresfully, they made their propaganda even in their TV’s news program!. In newspaper’s, same thing has happened too. They can affect their TV channels so why not they did not affect their newspaper Owing to the fact that; I shocked when I saw media boss’ words with big puntos as a headline in one of honourable accepted by society newspapers. On the other hand, media bosses can affect the position of columnists. Whenever columnists do not write media boss’ opinions, boses could fire them. The example of Emin Çölaşan’s rush from Hürriyet completely fits this situation. He was fired because of his spectations about the media boss.
